Six people, including three children, were taken to hospitals following a car accident on I-35.
According to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, first responders with ATCEMS and the Austin Fire Department were called to the 4700 block of southbound I-35 for a car accident that resulted in one of the vehicles catching on fire in the early afternoon of Friday, August 10.
When paramedics arrived on scene, six patients were treated and evacuated from the vehicles.
Three of the patients were children. One of them was declared a trauma alert and transported to Dell Children's Medical Center. The extent of that child's injuries are unclear at this time.
Drivers are being asked to find alternate routes and to avoid the area.
