AUSTIN, Texas - All Texas Department of Motor Vehicles systems are back online after an hours-long statewide outage.
TxDMV says the outage affected all online and in-person services. That includes county tax offices and other registration renewal locations such as grocery stores, vehicle dealerships, and MyPlates.
As a result of the outage, all 16 TxDMV Regional Service Centers were closed Friday morning. TxDMV says they will reopen at noon.
Still no word on what is causing the system-wide issue, but TxDMV tells FOX 7 that it was not cybersecurity related. Staff is currently monitoring and reviewing to determine the root cause of the outage.
