ATCEMS: Pedestrian hit by car on South Congress Ave
Drivers were asked to avoid the area and to seek alternate routes if possible as the investigation was being conducted.
AUSTIN, Texas - Austin-Travis County EMS says a person has died after they were hit by a car.
According to ATCEMS, the crash happened around 8 p.m. in the 5900 block of South Congress Avenue, near Little Texas Lane. The preliminary investigation shows a red Lexus was traveling southbound in the right lane when it struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene at 8:24 p.m.
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative, according to police.
No further details about the victim or the incident were released.
