Austin Animal Center says it's out of space
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - The Austin Animal Center says in a Facebook post that it has taken in more than 200 animals over the last three days and is out of space.
The shelter shared a video on Facebook which you can see below or here of dogs outside on its truck port because there's nowhere else for them to go.
The center is asking the public for help in the following ways:
- If you find a lost animal, please, please, hang onto them. Keep them safely contained in a room, or a find a friend who can keep them temporarily. Call 311 to create a found report and then post to social media, join the Facebook group Austin Lost and Found Pets, to post the pet's information and then post on Nextdoor too. Most lost animals are picked up less than a quarter of a mile from their home.
- AAC is still running its Fur Mama's Day adoption event, and adoption fees are only $12 today and tomorrow (5/12). Tania Ortega got information about that and met a dog you could adopt on Good Day Austin this morning.
- If you can temporarily foster a dog, please come see us! No foster experience required.
