Austin Water warns customers of phone scam
AUSTIN, Texas - Austin Water are warning customers of fraudulent calls regarding water filters.
According to official’s customers are receiving fraudulent calls claiming that water filters are required to be used before tap water can be consumed.
Austin Water is providing the following information to customers:
• Customers should beware of fraudulent calls regarding water filters.
• There is no requirement to filter the water that you are receiving from Austin Water.
• All three water treatment plants are providing water that is safe to drink.
• Customers can receive water from any of the plants since they are connected with a series of pump stations and reservoirs.
Customers are being asked to report any fraudulent calls and contact 311.
