Early morning SWAT standoff involving baby ends peacefully

An early morning SWAT standoff in Round Rock ended peacefully.

Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody said the situation began around 4:00 am Monday. Sheriff Chody said a man assaulted his wife and kicked her and his mother-in-law out of the house.

He held onto his baby.

The man was armed and came out of the house several times with a gun, according to the sheriff's office. Sheriff Chody says the suspect never threatened deputies.

SWAT officers negotiated with the man. He eventually surrendered.

The man now faces a charge of Assault/Family Violence.
