EXCESSIVE HEAT: Phoenix searing in record-breaking temperatures

A 112-year-old temperature record was broken on Friday, as Phoenix continues to endure extreme temperatures.

According to a post made by the National Weather Service's office in Phoenix, the high temperature, as of approximately 4:00 p.m., is 117°F (47.2°C). At approximately 5:20 p.m., NWS officials said the official high temperature in Phoenix is 118°F (47.8°C).

The old record, set in 1905, is 115°F (46.1°C).
