2 weeks until 2026 FIFA World Cup on FOX

The 2026 FIFA World Cup on FOX will kick off on Thursday, June 11, and Chicago-based soccer broadcaster and writer Alex Campbell joined Adam Llorens on LiveNOW from FOX to preview the tournament.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will impose temporary flight restrictions over stadiums hosting FIFA World Cup 2026 matches and any related fan events across the United States for added protection.

This means no drones will be allowed to fly over sporting events and festivities.

What they're saying:

"As fans from around the world gather at stadiums and fan events across the country for the FIFA World Cup, the FAA is using every available tool to protect the airspace, including stronger drone-enforcement efforts," said FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford. "Drone operators should expect swift action if they violate restricted airspace."

Dig deeper:

All aircraft operations will be prohibited within a 3-nautical-mile radius and up to 3,000 feet above ground level around stadiums.

Unauthorized drone operators who fly in a restricted area could face a fine of up to $100,000.

Additionally, the drone could be confiscated and the operator could face federal criminal charges.
