34-year-old David Ross Guerrero, who was an English teacher and assistant coach for the girls' soccer team at the San Marcos High School, is accused of having an improper relationship with a student. Arrest warrants have been issued for the former San Marcos High School faculty member.

Guerrero left employment with SMHS in 2013 and is currently residing in Colorado.

According to the San Marcos Police Department, a female victim came forward  in November 2018 with a report of a sexual assault occurring in 2008. The victim had been a student at San Marcos High School and had engaged in a sexual relationship with a teacher at the school.

Police determined that Guerrero had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim on approximately six separate occasions between June-July 2008. At the time, Guerrero was employed at San Marcos High School as an English teacher and Assistant Coach for the girls’ soccer team.

On Friday, May 24, the San Marcos Police Department issued two arrest warrants for David Guerrero for the offenses of Sexual Assault of a Child and Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student.

Information gathered during the investigation also leads SMPD to believe there may be other similar victims at SMHS between 2007 and 2013. The Police Department is urging anyone who has information regarding the investigation to contact SMPD Detective Robert Elrod at 512-753-2132 or Relrod@sanmarcostx.gov.
