LiNK Cedar Park 'microtransit' pilot program available to eligible residents, visitors

Cedar Park residents can participate in a new transportation pilot program, LiNK Cedar Park.

The "microtransit" program is a partnership between the city and TRIPPP Consulting, in collaboration with Uber and zTrip.

What we know:

LiNK Cedar Park is a city-supported rideshare program operating within city limits.

The program gives eligible residents and visitors 10 reduced-fare rides a month and connects riders directly to CapMetro's Lakeline Station.

The program is available to anyone requesting a ride within its service area and is not limited to residents.

The city says that while this program was designed with the whole community in mind, it will be especially helpful for those unable to drive due to medical or other reasons and older adults and people looking for greater independence.

How It Works:

Interested participants can use LiNK Cedar Park in one of two ways: for rideshare through Uber or for paratransit service through zTrip.

Rideshare:

  • Riders can use their existing Uber app on iOS or Android and download their ten vouchers via a QR code or by clicking the voucher link.
  • Rides that begin and end within the program boundaries will automatically display the reduced fare.
  • Riders pay the first $5.00 and receive a sponsorship from the City of up to an additional $10. Riders are responsible for charges beyond that first $15.00 ($5.00 fare + $10 sponsorship).
  • All rideshare trips are paid through the Uber app. Tips can be left for drivers within the app, but those do not count towards the City sponsorship
  • The Uber voucher may be redeemed on trips 24/7. The voucher also works with pre-scheduled trips.
  • All riders are required to follow the Uber Community Guidelines.
  • Trips may be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.
  • Each rider may only apply the Uber voucher to one Uber account. Riders who download vouchers to multiple accounts may be removed from the program.
  • Uber vouchers will only apply trips using UberX, UberX Share and UberXL. Uber WAV requests will be forwarded to zTrip.
  • Rides may also only be scheduled for the voucher holder.

Those who do not have a smartphone can schedule a ride by calling Uber at 1-833-USE-UBER or 1-833-873-8237.

Paratransit:

  • To enroll in the program and schedule a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, call 512-515-9108.
  • WAV trips may be recurring and scheduled two weeks in advance.
  • All riders are required to follow the WAV Rider and Driver Code of Conduct.
  • Personal Care Attendants do not incur an additional fee.
  • For WAV trips, drivers will accept cash or credit card at the time of boarding.

Carpooled trips count as one trip and incur only one $5.00 fee, regardless of the number of riders.
