Man killed in Metric Boulevard crash on May 8 identified

The Austin Police Department has identified the man killed in a crash on May 8 as it continues to investigate the incident.

The crash happened at just after 3 p.m. in the 12300 block of Metric Boulevard.

Police say that the preliminary investigation shows that a tan, 2004 GMC SUV and white, 2018 Hino van were going parallel in the southbound lanes when the vehicles came into contact with each other for an unknown reason.

Due to the contact, the van went over the center median and into the northbound lanes of traffic where it collided with an oncoming red, 2012 Mistubishi Galant.

66-year-old James Henry Omary was a passenger in the Galant. He suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and died upon arrival after he was taken to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center.

Four other people in the Galant were also hurt but all are expected to be okay.

The drivers of the Hino and the GMC were not hurt and remained on scene.
