No major damage is reported after a fire at the HealthSouth rehabilitation hospital next to UMC Brackenridge Medical Center on Red River. The small fire started on the second floor of the building.
Officials say the fire started from a mini refrigerator that had a frayed wire and then spread to some other office equipment causing flames and smoke.
Smoke filled the floor and patients at the rehab hospital were moved as a precaution as firefighters put out the flames and cleared the smoke.
No one was hurt and no evacuations were needed.
A spokeswoman for the Austin Fire Department says it could've been a whole lot worse given the circumstances and the location.
HealthSouth did suffer some water damage but officials say there is no other significant damage. It is back open and accepting patients.
