Northbound lanes of I-35 in San Marcos reopen after crash

All northbound lanes of I-35 have reopened after a semi truck crash on the overpass near Highway 80.

Officials say one of the trailers the semi was pulling struck the center wall of the interstate at 2:35 a.m. The crash knocked over a light pole that damaged a car in one of the southbound lanes and briefly caused a lane closure.

The driver of the semi was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The San Marcos Fire Department HAZMAT team was on the scene to clean up the spilled fuel from the truck and oversee the handling of freon tanks in the cargo of one of the trailers. The gas is nonflammable and did not pose a hazard to the public.
