Officials: Explosive components removed from Leander home

The Austin Police Bomb Squad removed components used to make an explosive from a home in Leander. The area surrounding the home was closed for several hours while they complete the removal.

A suspect has already been taken into custody.

Residents near and around the 2500 block of Kathleen Cv in Leander were being evacuated earlier due to a home with possible explosives inside, according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.

According to law enforcement, WCSO responded to a Leander home with possible explosives inside the garage on Monday, April 20.

Neighbors were asked to shelter in place while APD Bomb Squad removes the explosives, according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. "We do not believe there is any danger to the public at this time," they said in a tweet after the suspect had been taken into custody.
