AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department has identified the person who was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash along I-35.
The backstory:
APD says officers responded to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 10400 block of South I-35 proper southbound on Feb. 10 at around 3:55 a.m.
Police say the driver remained at the scene, was not impaired, and cooperated with the investigation.
The pedestrian, identified as 45-year-old David Rodriguez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case remains under investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 10th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 10 fatalities.
On the date of this crash in 2025, five fatal crashes resulted in five deaths.
