Some overnight storms brought in heavy rain and strong winds throughout the Austin area. Trees and power lines were knocked down and there was at least one house fire believed to have been weather related.

Damage in our area includes 14 downed trees, three downed power lines, one blown transformer that led to a tree fire and a port-a-potty that was tipped over by heavy winds on Mopac.

The house fire on Knoll Ridge Drive is believed to have started after lightning struck the home at 3 a.m. The fire caused some damage to the roof. No one was hurt.

In South Austin at Teri Road and Nuckols Crossing the storm caused tree limbs to fall and strong winds scattered debris across yards and roads.

Thousands of people were also left without power. At one point nearly 10,000 homes were affected.
