Temperatures in the mid-80s convinced many people to put down their usual Sunday chores and head outside.
“Everybody wants to get out. I have a bunch of homework due and everything, but I just wanted to get out and enjoy this,” said Irina Koltsova.
“It's pretty awesome. Global warming is kind of scary, but I can dig 80 in January,” said Michael Graves.
The crowd at Zilker Park was so big; it caused some serious traffic around the area.
“It's a nice place to come to, but you’ve got to be willing to wait some time to get in first. But it's worth it over and all because who knows when a nice day like this will happen again,” Sam Hernandez said.
“It’s pretty crowded. We had to park all the way over there and we had to walk here. I'm glad we didn't park over here because we would have had a hard time getting out,” said Koltsova.
“Honestly, this is probably the most people I've seen since ACL. It's just about the most people I've ever seen though,” Graves said.
Thousands were playing catch, paddle boarding, sunbathing or just hanging out with friends.
“Brought some Frisbees, we're going to play some fetch. Brought some tunes, going to listen to some music,” Graves said.
“We love it. It’s fun to come out here, let the dog run around, kids throw the football,” Ashley Arranbide said.
Even though it doesn't feel like it, the countdown to summer is still months away.
“Just bring sunscreen. It's January 31,” said Koltsova
Anyone who didn't get a chance to enjoy the warm temperatures will have one more chance but after that a cold front blows through.
