Suspect arrested after teen dies from head injury

The Austin Police Department says it has arrested a suspect after a teen dies from an apparent head injury.

It happened just before 6 a.m. when police responded to a welfare call in the 500 block of W. 26th Street. That's when officers found a 19-year-old white male unconscious with a head injury.

The victim was taken to UMC Brackenridge where he later died.

The exact cause of death will be determined after an autopsy by the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police say a suspect has been arrested and charges are pending.

The identities of the suspect and victim are not yet known at this time. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
