APD SWAT responds to family violence incident in South Austin

Austin police said the SWAT team was called to the 2200 block of Perry Ave.

The Austin Police Department (APD) said a SWAT standoff in South Austin ended peacefully on Friday.

Police said at 12:31 p.m., officers received a call of family violence involving a deadly weapon at the Meadowbrook Apartments near Oltorf and S. Lamar.

When officers arrived around 12:46 p.m., they found a victim injured. The victim told officers the suspect was possibly under the influence.

The victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect barricaded herself inside the apartment that possibly had "multiple weapons inside." Shortly after, the SWAT team and negotiators were called to the scene.

A couple hours later, police said the suspect did surrender. She was believed to be intoxicated and had several knives inside.

Apartments nearby that were evacuated were let back inside.
