AUSTIN, Texas - A man has been arrested after he tried to steal a porta-potty from a construction site in Travis County, according to a Travis County Sherriff's Office affidavit.
At approximately 6:47 a.m. on March 5, police responded to 15306 FM 969 Road in Travis County after a witness flagged down an officer and alerted them of a possible theft.
According to the affidavit, the witness saw a brown Ford F150 pulling a green "Liquid Waste " porta-potty container secured on a small trailer. The witness, who is employed by a construction company working on nearby toll roads, felt something was wrong since that was the only porta-potty the construction workers could use. The witness decided to follow the truck until he could flag down police, feeling as though person driving the truck was stealing the toilet.
Police pulled over the truck and identified the driver as 47-year-old Micheal Anothy Montecinos. Montecinos told police a man named "Robert" had hired him to remove the porta-potty from the site. Montecinos continued to tell police that "Robert" was going to pay him $25 to transport the porta-potty from the site to an H-E-B in Bastrop.
After confirming with the company that owns the porta-potty that the toilet was not supposed to be moved, police arrested Montecinos for Theft of Property more than $2,500 less than $30,000, a state felony.
His bail was set at $3,000.
