Train hits pedestrian, victim's whereabouts still unknown

Austin EMS crews are trying to find the victim of a collision between a train and a pedestrian in South Austin.

First responders conducted an hours-long search for a victim after a report of a train hitting a pedestrian in South Austin, but no victim was found.

Austin-Travis County EMS says the crash was reported around 5:40 a.m. Feb. 27near W. Mary St. and 7th St.

The train stopped and crews looked for the pedestrian, even requesting a thermal imaging drone to aid the search.

ATCEMS on scene after report of train-pedestrian collision in South Austin

First responders say it happened around 5:40 a.m. near W. Mary St. and 7th Street. Expect traffic delays in the area.

EMS cleared the scene around 7 a.m., but Austin police and firefighters kept the drone up a little longer to be certain no one needed help.

In the end, no victim was found, and the train left the area around 8 a.m.
