The UT community is still feeling the loss of first year dance major Haruka Weiser.
Students are honoring her with a number of tributes. Including along the path that she would have taken home last Sunday night when she went missing.
The makeshift memorial to Haruka is growing by the day. Hundreds of students gathered there Monday afternoon.
They started off at the Winship Drama building where Haruka left around 9:30 last Sunday night. They retraced her steps during the block long walk home. A walk home that she would never finish taking.
There was a moment of silence before students laid flowers and lit candles. They also signed a book for her family. Many of the people in attendance didn't know her but still felt the need to come. Including one sophomore who wanted to stay anonymous.
"Even though I didn't know her, I felt that she was part of the community. She was part of the UT family. And every member of the UT family is important," they said.
The University of Texas is creating a memorial fund in honor of Haruka. They said at some point her family will decided where the money will be donated.
