Authorities are looking to identify the female victim of an apparent kidnapping who was seen on video being pulled by a man into a car with Texas license plates in South Los Angeles.

Detectives circulated the video in hopes that the public can help identify the victim and suspect of the apparent kidnapping, which occurred around 11:50 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West 79th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Witnesses said they saw a man at the wheel of a light-gray four-door sedan -- possibly a Chrysler 200 -- drive in reverse on 79th Street and park in the middle of the road immediately after passing by a female pedestrian who was walking eastbound on the south sidewalk of 79th Street.

They said the man got out of the car, picked her up and placed her in the front passenger seat of the sedan and closed the door. She repeatedly tried to open the door before succeeding and jumping out of the car, but was pulled back inside, according to police, who said the car was last seen headed westbound on 79th Street.

The woman could be heard screaming for help, police said.

The suspect was described as an Hispanic man in his 20s, 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds. Witnesses said there may have been a second suspect in the car.

The first three numbers of the license plate were possibly ``763.''
