DPW hard at work (5 p.m. update)
What we know:
Following last night’s heavy rainfall, the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) said it continues to assess flood-related damage and respond to impacted areas across the city.
Crews have been out and working continuously since the flooding began, focusing on clearing surface water and responding to service requests. The DPW is asking for patience and is encouraging people to avoid flooded areas.
The DPW said to report any street flooding, water backing up into basements, downed trees or limbs and stranded or disabled vehicles.

State of Emergency declared
What we know:
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley has declared a State of Emergency.
"Flooding is still an active emergency situation across Milwaukee County, and we are expecting more rain today and into this evening. Our top priority is the life and safety of Milwaukee County residents," said County Executive Crowley. "I strongly urge our residents to stay cautious, stay informed, and refrain from traveling. Check in on your neighbors and loved ones, especially older adults, and seek out emergency assistance if needed. I am thankful to our first responders, law enforcement partners, social services workers, and neighbors who are lending a helping hand during a challenging time. We will get through this together, Milwaukee."
The declaration will help emergency management personnel to deploy additional resources, activate state and federal partners to assist with our efforts on the ground, and help people as swiftly as possible.

Milwaukee DPW response (noon update)
What we know:

Avoid flooded areas and do not walk or drive through standing water. It remains dangerous.
DPW asks that you report any street flooding, water backing up into basements, downed trees or limbs, and stranded or disabled vehicles.

Weekend flash flooding compilation
Southeast Wisconsin experienced severe flooding Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Red Cross assisting
What we know:
The American Red Cross of Wisconsin has opened a shelter at Holler Park, 5151 S. 6th Street in Milwaukee to help those impacted by the severe weather.
The shelter remains open offering food, water, emotional support and a place to charge phones. All are welcome—Red Cross shelters are open to anyone in need.

Severe storms, flash flooding Saturday
Severe storms and intense rain led to flash floods in the Milwaukee area. Wisconsin State Fair closed early due to the weather.
Severe flooding | 11:20 a.m. update (Aug. 10)
The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District initiated a combined sewer overflow just before 10 p.m. Saturday night.
As of 11:20 a.m., the Deep Tunnel is nearly at capacity and both reclamation facilities are operating at capacity.
We Energies is reporting thousands of power outages, concentrated mostly in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.
Parts of the freeway system experienced flash flooding, including Brewers Boulevard, stranding several drivers.

The Wisconsin State Fair will not reopen on Sunday, Aug. 10.
The USA Triathlon events scheduled for Sunday have also been canceled.
Brewers game still on
What we know:
The Brewers say that Sunday's game, scheduled for 1:10 p.m. is still on, however about half of the parking lots are currently inaccessible to traffic and some access roads are closed. See the below statement from the Milwaukee Brewers:
"Today’s game will be played as scheduled with the 1:10pm start time. American Family Field was not directly impacted by the flooding, but approximately half of the parking lots are currently inaccessible to traffic and some access roads are closed. We will not be able to guarantee parking for all fans, even those who purchased parking in advance. Fans with tickets and/or prepaid parking passes to today’s game who are unable to attend the game will receive a credit on their account for the value of their tickets and parking to use towards any Brewers 2025 regular season home game. Fans will receive an email before Noon tomorrow with instructions on accessing their account credit."
The following are recommended roads to use for fans who plan to attend today’s game:
- From I-94 Westbound: Use I94 and enter at Mitchell Blvd.
- From I-94 Eastbound: Use I94 and enter at Mitchell Blvd.
- From Bluemound road: Enter at N Story Parkway.
- Canal Street from the east is not accessible.
- 175 southbound to Brewers Blvd is not accessible.

Flash flood warning | 8:10 p.m. update
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Milwaukee County and part of Waukesha County until 2 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10.
Small creeks and streams, along with urban areas and low-lying areas with poor drainage, could experience flash floods. WisDOT cameras deep water near the Stadium Interchange starting shortly before 9 p.m.
Flood watch | 7 p.m. update
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth and Waukesha counties through 7 a.m. Monday morning, Aug. 11.
While the watch is in effect, excessive rainfall could cause flash floods. Excessive runoff may also result in flooded rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying or flood-prone areas.

Severe thunderstorm warning | 5:45 p.m. update
The National Weather Service extended severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of Milwaukee and Waukesha counties until 6:30 p.m. Wind gusts could reach 60 mph, and penny-sized hail is possible. Expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.

The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Waukesha counties on Saturday, Aug. 9. The warnings are expected to expire at 5:45 p.m.
During the warning, wind gusts could reach 60 mph and damage to roofs, siding and trees is possible.
