Cooking with FOX 7: Chocolate Brownie Cake with Black Cherries

Emily Madden with H-E-B Cooking Connection makes a sweet treat that can be a great dessert for Valentine's Day.

The recipe is as follows:


16 oz triple fudge brownie mix
2 large eggs
2 8 oz containers of dessert topping, thawed in fridge
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 jar Amarena Toschi Black Cherries in Syrup


Preheat oven to 350°F.
Lightly coat a 9 inch metal pan with non stick cooking spray and set aside.
Combine the brownie mix, eggs, cocoa powder, and 1 8 oz container of dessert topping in the bowl of a stand mixer and mix on medium speed for about 3 minutes. A hand mixer will work also.
Pour into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.  A toothpick should come out clean or with crumbs.
While cake is baking, drain syrup from cherries and whip together with the second container of dessert topping.
Let the cake cool completely before icing.
Decorate the top with the remaining cherries.
