Harvesting stem cells to prevent age related disease

There have been many medical breakthroughs over the years and now scientists and doctors are working together for the next one in the hopes of preventing age related diseases by harvesting stem cells early on in life.

Since 2015 a group of board certified biomedical research scientists and doctors have teamed up to create Forever Labs. It's a longevity company that collects stem cells through bone marrow and cryogenically freezes them to be used later on in life.

The harvesting of stem cells has already been adopted by several physicians in Austin. It's an outpatient procedure that takes no more than half an hour.

From there, the stem cells are cent to Forever Lab's FDA approved cryobank where the cells are frozen to maintain quality.

After watching a podcast based on the medical technology, 33-year-old Ryan Ramirez decided it was something he wanted to move forward with. He is taking a proactive approach to medicine in the hopes of bypassing age-related diseases within his family tree.

Doctors say time is of the essence with this particular procedure. They recommend getting it done before the age of 60 because the younger you are the better the stem cells are going to be.

In 2008, there were less than 10 clinical trials involving stem cells. Now there are hundreds which could potentially hold the key to longer and healthier lives.

Right now the stem cell harvest procedure is in phase three clinical trials awaiting FDA approval. If you'd live more information you can go here.
