APD identifies pedestrian hit and killed in eastern Travis County

The Austin Police Department has identified the pedestrian killed in eastern Travis County earlier this week. Bruce Henry Chavez, 39, was hit and killed on Monday, April 20. 

According to police, a 2017, white Freightliner box truck was traveling eastbound in the inside lane in the 9100 block of East Parmer Lane when it struck Chavez, who was in the middle of the inside lane.

Chavez was pronounced deceased on scene.

This is Austin’s 27th fatal traffic crash of 2020, resulting in 29 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, there were 22 traffic fatalities.
