APD investigating suspicious death in South Austin

The Austin Police Department is investigating a suspicious death in the South Creek South neighborhood off of East William Cannon Drive in South Austin. 

According to police, officers responded to calls of shots fired in the 6800 block of Bitterroot Trail around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23. When officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Luis Gayton with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to St. David's South Austin Medical Center. 

Gayton passed away from his injuries later that night. The Travis County Medical Examiner has conducted an autopsy and is awaiting lab and investigative results before determining cause and manner of death.
