A cat’s frantic attempt to dodge a vet visit in Kansas ended in a dramatic rescue after it became trapped inside a recliner, forcing firefighters to cut the chair apart to free the unharmed pet.

Photos released by the Overland Park Police Department in Kansas capture the pet’s dramatic reaction after it was freed from inside the chair.

Police said the cat was uninjured and, despite its attempts to avoid it, ultimately made it to the vet for its annual checkup.

"This feline was caught in a mechanical reclining chair desperately trying to escape its owner for a vet visit," police said, adding that firefighters, with assistance from animal control, used a saw to free the cat.
