City of San Marcos issues boil water notice for section of South San Marcos near I-35

The City of San Marcos has issued a precautionary boil water notice for a section of South San Marcos.

The boil notice, issued Thursday evening, affects the following areas: 3830-4300 South Interstate 35 — Bill Miller to the Honda Dealership — 690 Centerpoint, 4211 Gregson’s Bend, and 625 Commercial Loop on the west side of I-35.

On the east side, 3939-4331 South I-35 (both sides of the outlets) and 1020 Centerpoint are affected.

The city says this is a precautionary measure "and does not necessarily mean that your water is contaminated, only that there is a possibility of contamination due to lack of pressure in the main lines for an extended period."

The city said it plans to receive water quality test results by Friday, Dec. 13 at 12 p.m., at which point the notice will be lifted.

The city says water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and boiled for two minutes and cooled prior to consumption. In lieu of boiling, residents can choose to purchase bottled water or get water from another suitable source.

Anyone with questions regarding the boil notice can call the city’s water/wastewater utilities office at 512-393-8010.
