Family of man fatally shot in north Austin searches for answers
AUSTIN,Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - The Allen family said they feel left in the dark after 26-year-old Eric Allen was shot to death in north Austin on December 23.
Two days before Christmas day Austin Police responded to a shooting call on the 12500 block of Rampart Street near Parmer Elementary School. No arrests were immediately made.
APD said they were speaking to a woman inside the home and she was cooperating with them. What led to Allen’s death remains a question.
Allen’s sister Laquisha Allen said she hasn’t been able to get any answers from investigators. Instead the family is focusing on laying Allen to rest.
Saturday afternoon, his family came together for a benefit plate sale to raise money for Allen’s funeral arrangements.
"The only thing we want is justice,” Laquisha Allen said. "To find out what happened, to find out what my brother went through before his life got taken away from him."
This year’s Christmas was hard for the Allen family. His older brother Ernest said his family took in Allen’s kids and tried to make the best of it by remembering Allen for he was.
"Oh man my little brother is the coolest most generous person like you will ever meet. Like even if he didn't know you," said Ernest Allen. "Always cheesing, always cheesing, always happy."
Laquisha Allen said she felt at peace knowing her brother was finally at peace.
"He's in a better place he ain't got to worry about no bills no nothing he good he in a better place he's up there with his momma and he's well taken care of," she said.
Funeral arrangements are still being made.
