FOX 7 Discussion: Mandatory paid sick leave
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Some Texas lawmakers, including the governor, want to abolish mandatory paid sick leave ordinances like the one passed in Austin.
In response to pending bills filed in the Senate and the House, activists protested on the north steps of the Capitol this morning. The rally was sponsored by the group, "Working Texans for Paid Sick Time" and featured speakers such as state Rep. Diego Bernal (D-San Antonio).
Bernal filed House Bill 3728 which would require employers to provide paid sick time, a proposition that's not very popular with GOP lawmakers.
Here to talk about this is Rob Henneke from the Texas Public Policy Foundation and Sam Robles from Progress Texas.
