FOX 7 Discussion: Paid Sick Leave Ordinance

It's a major setback for Austin's controversial mandatory paid sick leave ordinance. The case is headed back to a Travis County trial court and a temporary injunction has prevented the ordinance from going into effect. An attorney with the Texas Public Policy Foundation Chance Weldon talks more about what's happening.

The City of Austin released the following statement to FOX 7 Austin:

“This Court of Appeals opinion reverses and usurps the ruling of the Austin trial judge, who heard the case, weighed the evidence and ruled in the City’s favor earlier this year. Ensuring workers are able to take time off work when they are sick is simply the right and responsible thing to do, as many cities have already acknowledged. Going forward, the City of Austin will be reviewing our options in this case.”
