Goodwill in New Braunfels evacuated by police

A Goodwill in New Braunfels was evacuated due to reports of a potentially explosive device.

According to the New Braunfels Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Goodwill store in the 1000 block of South Walnut Avenue on Wednesday, January 9. Initial indications are that the device is not an actual explosive, but out of an abundance of caution the store has been evacuated. 

A perimeter has been set up in the area around the store, and the San Antonio Police Department Bomb Squad has been called in to handle the device, according to NBPD.

Drivers should expect an increased police presence until the issue has been resolved.
