Jamie Lee Curtis talks Halloween at Fantastic Fest 2018
The genre-film festival Fantastic Fest kicked off with a bang Thursday showing one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year, Halloween.
It’s been 40 years since the first Halloween movie slashed its way into the box office, now the next movie in the franchise is hoping to make the cut. “There are Easter eggs throughout there are homage throughout and yet it is inherently its own story,” said Actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
Jamie Lee Curtis will be reprising her role as Laurie Strode the character who survived the attack against the infamous knife wielding icon, Michael Myers, back in 1978. “Laurie Strode was the most complete character I’ve ever got to play and now I get to play her again," said Jamie Lee Curtis.
Jamie Lee Curtis stopped by Fantastic Fest where they showed an earlier premier of the highly-anticipated thriller. “You don't have to have ever seen a Halloween movie and I guarantee you will be terrified,” said Jamie Lee Curtis. While 40 years have passed she said it was easy stepping back into her former character. “She was the best part I’ve had and I had it for my first movie and I’ve had a bunch since and I just haven't had a part with that level of complexity,” said Jamie Lee Curtis.
Also stopping by Fantastic Fest and the premier was actor Danny McBride, who is a screen writer on the movie. While known for acting in comedies such as “Pineapple Express” and “This is the End”, He said he had a blast writing for the upcoming horror film. “You know it was easier I thought. Jokes are hard but you still have to deal with set up and pay off you know. I love this genre so it was cool to be able to flex and do it," said Danny McBride.
Whether you've seen all 10 of the movies dozens of times or haven't seen any, both Danny McBride and Jamie Lee Curtis said there is something here for all fans of the genre
If you're wondering how scary the movie will be, Jamie Lee Curtis told FOX 7 that it terrified her at the world premiere.
Fantastic Fest will be going on until the 27th where they will be showing a wide variety of movies not just in the horror or thriller genre.
