CapMetro lowering train speeds due to high temperatures in Austin

To avoid the rails from overheating, CapMetro will be lowering the speed of its MetroRails for the next few days.

Due to triple digit temperatures continuing for the next several days, Capital Metro says MetroRail trains will be operating at lower speeds to prevent the rails from overheating.

The trains will run at a lower speed until 7 p.m. for the next few days.

CapMetro says alerts will be sent out if trains are more than five minutes late. To sign up for alerts, click here.
