Pee-Wee's Big Holiday premieres at final SXSW Red Carpet

Thursday night marked the final red carpet movie premiere for South by Southwest, and we saw the return of a very famous face to the big screen.

After decades Paul Reuben’s is once again sporting the red bowtie and his grey suit. Reuben’s was greeted at the premiere of his new movie "Pee-Wees Big Holiday" in downtown Austin to many excited fans.

The movie is based around Pee-Wee's first holiday. A mysterious handsome stranger played by Joe Manganiello from HBO’s True Blood inspires Pee-Wee in the movie.  “Never missed an episode of Pee-Wee’s Play House, Big Top Pee-Wee, I have been a huge fan since then,” Manganiello said.

The movie is a feature film directorial debut for director John Lee. “I provided rotten fruit for everybody, and if they throw it at the screen, then I know it didn't go well, and if they keep it, I know they really liked it,” he said.

Well known producer Judd Apatow said he would've done anything to make another Pee-Wee movie possible. “It's just in the grand tradition of Pee-Wee. It's a great Pee-Wee Herman movie. It's what we've been waiting for, for a long time,” he said.

“An entire generation of kids that are going to watch this movie with their parents of my generation and so a whole new generation is going to get introduced to Pee-Wee and love it,” Manganiello said.

Reuben’s said he is happy to be back at it, and appealing to an old and new generation. “I think it's really funny, it's got a lot of heart, there's a certain sweetness to it. I think it's unusual in certain ways, and it's got a lot of callbacks to big adventure to my earlier stuff.  But I think it's fresh and new, and I am hoping people will really like it.

“Pee-Wee's Big Holiday” will start streaming worldwide on Netflix March 18th.
