Austin police identified a man who was shot and killed in east Austin on Wednesday, April 17.

Austin police identified the man shot and killed in East Austin on Wednesday.

Police said on April 17, around 9:01 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at 1800 East 51st Street.

Police investigating shooting death in East Austin

Police say a man was found in a car with a gunshot wound to the abdomen near the intersection of East 51st Street and Berkman Drive.

When law enforcement arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, but later died from his injuries.

He was later identified as 33-year-old Tayjay Stephens.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
