Video shows speeding car narrowly missing police officer

WILMER, Texas - A sergeant from the Wilmer Police Department narrowly avoided a crash Wednesday morning. The other driver was hurt.

Dash camera video shows what happened. Sgt. Carl Laza was leaving a mobile home park along the Interstate 45 service road when a speeding car hit a culvert and went airborne.

The car just missed the squad car and instead hit a utility pole.

Debris landed on the squad car but did not injure the officer. The driver of the speeding car was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Charges are pending against the other driver.
