AUSTIN, Texas - Virginia College in Austin has closed. Students say they found out in an email that said “last night ACICS suspended our schools' accreditation with intent to withdraw.“
Students are able to finish their classes this week but many are not able to graduate.
According to their website, Virginia College, Austin has been placed on institutional show cause by its accreditor, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools ("ACICS"), because of the final adverse action taken by another recognized accrediting agency.
The website goes on to say that, after many years of successfully preparing students for new careers, Virginia College in Austin will no longer enroll new students effective Sept. 10, 2018. "As always, we continue to focus on helping our students graduate and assisting them with getting jobs in their fields. We are proud of our history, and we look forward to the success of our final class of students."
