Local athletes compete in UIL State Track & Field Championships

The UIL State Track & Field Championships is underway at Myers Stadium and several local athletes are competing and winning medals.

Below are some of the higlights from each day:

Day 2

Sprinting sensation turned internet sensation Matthew Boling of Houston Strake Jesuit sets state and national records on his way to 100 meter gold with a time of 10.13 seconds. UT football signee Tyler Owens of Plano East finishes in second place while Round Rock's Ryan O'Keefe places fourth.

Boling also takes gold in the long jump with Westlake's Mason Mangum taking second.

Taylor senior Anna Cathryn Griffith takes gold in the 4A pole vault which was her fourth gold in the event as she won each year she's been in high school.

Fellow Taylor athlete Dushonn Orr fnished second in the 4A 100 meter dash.

Day 1

Georgetown's Tyler Noles got a silver medal in the 5A discus with a throw of 172 feet.

It was gold for Mikaela Francois from Weiss in the girls 5A 100 meter dash. She won with a time of 11.74 while Cedar Park's Megan Wilcox came in third.

Bailey Goggan fro Marble Falls had big first day with wins in both the 5A 400 meter run and the 800 meter run.
