Workers Defense opposing Austin?s ?strong Mayor? effort
A group called Austinites for Progressive Reform has been pushing to change Austin?s city charter from a ?Strong City Manager? form of government to a ?Strong Mayor? form of government. This week the petition signatures were validated by the City Clerk so the idea is headed to the ballot in May. Workers Defense is opposing that effort. On Good Day Austin Saturday morning, Ana Gonzalez, Better Builder and Policy Director for Workers Defense Action Fund joined Good Day Austin?s Casey Claiborne to explain why they are urging voters to say no.
