National Infertility Awareness Week

AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Infertility is an issue that affects many people, yet it remains kind of a taboo subject.

Infertility impacts one in eight couples, and science and technology have made it so that people who struggle with infertility can get treatment to help them with family building. Some of the more common treatments include IVF, IUI, egg freezing, surrogacy, adoption and purchasing donor tissue. 

Infertility treatment is expensive and many times patients end up covering much of the cost out of pocket.  IVF can cost upwards of $20K per round and medications alone can cost $5-7K per round. Genetic testing can cost an additional $5K.
