Antioch, TN school shooting leaves 1 student dead, 1 injured

One student was killed and another was injured after a shooting inside Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday. The shooter is also deceased.

What we know:

The shooting took place at about 11:09 a.m. ET, officials said during a news conference. The shooter, identified as a 17-year-old Solomon Henderson, took out a pistol and fired multiple shots in the cafeteria. 

Henderson took the bus to school before the shooting, according to police. 

One 16-year-old student was killed and was identified as Josselin Corea Escalante. Another male student was grazed in the arm and is in stable condition, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department. Earlier, police said the second injured student was a female. 

Another student suffered a face injury but was not hit by gunfire, police said. This student is being treated at a local hospital and released.

SWAT teams have cleared the school building and there is no threat at this time. 

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations and the FBI are assisting with the incident. 

Students were taken to a reunification site located at 3654 Murfreesboro Pike, which is less than a mile away from the school.

The motive of the shooter is unknown at this time.
