APD seeking information on sexual assault case

The Austin Police Department is asking for information to help find a suspect in a sexual assault case.

The incident happened on April 15 at around 4:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of North I-35 Service Road southbound.

Police say that the victim told officers that a man knocked on her apartment door and when she answered pointed a small gun at her and forced her into her apartment.

Once inside, the victim told police that the suspect demanded money. The victim says she gave the suspect her purse.

The victim then says that the suspect told her to go into the restroom where he sexually assaulted her. She says she was able to get away and call 911.

Detectives believe the suspect had been in the area for some time, possibly as early as noon, before the burglary and sexual assault happened.They also believe the suspect may have been with a Hispanic female.

The suspect is described as follows:

  • Hispanic male
  • Estimated to be in his late 30’s
  • Short black hair and mustache
  • Mark/tattoo under left eye
  • Approximately 5’ 7”
  • Medium to heavyset build
  • Tattoos on both arms down to wrists
  • Last seen wearing black shirt and blue jeans
