Cap Metro offering bus service in Round Rock

Commuting to and from Round Rock is about to get a lot easier starting Monday as Cap Metro launches its first ever fixed bus service there.

Three new bus routes will come and go from the Round Rock Transit Station. All next week commuters will be able to ride the bus free of charge in honor of the new service.

The service has been years in the making and is the first fixed route bus service in the city. Two of the routes will operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will be two buses for each route and will run every hour.

Some of the big stops along the way include Round Rock City Hall and several large businesses.

The new commuting options will give people more flexibility with their daily schedules.

There will be a total of four new routes but only three will start next week. The last one won't start until the MoPac Improvement Project is finished.

The total cost of the expansion is about $1 million but the federal funding covered a part of it.
