Casey Elementary School evacuated due to smoke

Students, faculty, and teachers were evacuated from Casey Elementary School on Monday. 

According to the Austin Fire Department, there were reports of smoke coming from the ceiling. Firefighters discovered a light haze coming from a single restroom when they searched the school.

Signs are pointing to it was an issue with the exhaust fan.

Students were allowed to reenter the school after 10 a.m. on Monday, October 1. The elementary school is part of the Austin Independent School District and located within the 9400 block of Texas Oaks Drive.
