Chicago firefighters rescue 1 from massive flea market blaze
CHICAGO (AP) — Fire officials fighting a massive blaze at a two-block-long flea market building in Chicago say they rescued one person as the fire belched large plumes of black smoke into the sky.
The Chicago Fire Department says there were no reports of injuries in the fire that broke out just before 10 a.m. Tuesday at Buyer's Flea Market on the west side.
About two hours after the fire started, fire officials recalled firefighters from the building. Fire officials say there were many vehicles and flammable items inside the building.
Fire officials say vehicles parked on the building's deck fell into the building as the roof collapsed.
The one-story tall building houses an indoor and outdoor flea market.
