Del Valle ISD school board names lone finalist for superintendent

The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees has named a finalist for superintendent.

Dr. Annette Tielle, the current interim superintendent, was named the lone finalist at the March 2 board meeting. By law, the Board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire her to the position.

Tielle is to replace Dr. Kelly Crook who left Del Valle ISD in June. Tielle was the deputy superintendent in Del Valle ISD and assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction in Pflugerville ISD and Comal ISD.

"After a nationwide search, our Board unanimously agreed to identify Dr. Tielle as the lone finalist for superintendent," said Board President Rebecca Birch. "We believe her proven leadership and expansive knowledge of our district, combined with her ability to develop relations with students, staff and the community make her the right fit to lead the district. We are excited about the opportunities that she brings for our students and our district."

According to a release from DVISD, the Board hired Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the search and followed a lengthy process in determining the finalist. TASB consultants met with staff and community groups on January 16 to discuss leadership qualities of the new superintendent. The profile developed from those meetings was used by the Board and consultants in evaluating applicants.
