FOX 7 Discussion: Abbott fundraising letter to supporters
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Gov. Greg Abbott is getting a lot of backlash over a fundraising letter he sent to supporters.
The letter, which calls for Texans to take action against illegal immigration, is being criticized, because it was sent out the day before the mass shooting in El Paso.
The letter goes on to say “If we're going to defend Texas, we'll need to take those matters into our own hands."
It calls for urgent donations so the governor can fight illegal immigration.
Texas Democrats have called the statements racist, especially after the motive of the El Paso shooter was revealed.
The shooting in El Paso left 22 people dead and 24 injured.
